The County Roscommon Heritage and Genealogy
Company undertakes research into the histories of families resident
in County Roscommon before 1900. Our family
history report typically consists of all information on the paternal
side of the family, (unless we have been asked to follow the maternal
line). A family history report will provide details of all relevant
birth, baptismal, marriage and death records, and where appropriate
census and land records. It will also contain maps of the area and
any other relevant information found in ancillary sources.
The size of a report varies, as does the cost
and is dependent on dates when records begin in the parish, the
size of the family and the number of records found. The assessment
fee, which covers the cost of an initial search of our records and
our administration fee, is €75 Euro, (or the equivalent in
your own currency). Once this initial assessment has been carried
out we will be in a position to give you a quotation for a full
family history report, which can cost up to €300.
The success of an application depends on the availability
of records and on the amount of detail you provide. Our fees are
non refundable so it is advisable to obtain as much information
as possible before submitting an application. The centre is non-profit
making and all fees go to the upkeep of the centre.
